Just a little crack...

V2 is almost 5, they have an interesting perspective at that age... it comes out in conversations, like this one...

V2 V1 cracked me the 'nother day.
Mamaw K He did what?
V2 He cracked me.
Mamaw K How did he do that?
V2 We were racing to the door and he pushed me into the wall and cracked me.
Mamaw K (playing along now) Oh No! Are you broken?
V2 No, don't worry it's just a little crack, I'm not broken... see?

Two SUPER AWESOME events in the V family...

Last week, V2 graduated from Pre-K! This graduation was a hoot!
The kids were awesome, and I have to tell you, those teachers rock!
There was not one child of those 20 or so kids that did not fully participate!
If you have ever been to any event where kids are spotlighted, you know this is no small feat!

They did sign language, spanish, counting, dancing... oh, the dancing...
They pulled out the sunglasses and did one of those dancing circles- you know, the ones that you see on TV where everyone is around clapping and they take turns going in to do something special for a couple minutes!

It was great! I am so proud of my Kindergarten boy! and I only got a little teary eyed once... :)

Event number 2 was last night... our whole V family, and Mamaw K, traipsed the mile jaunt down to the school in the 85+ degree weather... (because there is never enough parking and you usually have to park a mile away anyway...) to see one of the funnest shows ever! It was V1's third grade musical. They did songs from school house rocks... talk about a trip back in time. And those songs are still awesome.
Although during Interplanet Janet I kept thinking "Isnt this inaccurate now? Didnt they determine Pluto wasn't a planet anymore? It was demoted from planethood... that means there are only 8... anyway..)
V1's class did Interjection... they got to act out a football play on stage while singing... of course sometimes the fun of acting trumped the singing and we were really listening to the voices on the CD, but it was GREAT! Tons of fun! And pretty organized for 7 or 8 classes of 20 something 3rd graders... that's a lot of kids for one music teacher.

(V1 is in the red had and blue shirt.)

So, as V2 says... It was a super awesome week!

My version of a freezer paper stencil....

Before I had heard of the cool idea of freezer paper stenciling, I wanted to put an image on a shirt for my boys. I started drawing this little boy angel in high school doodling on my notes... as a mother of 3 boys he seems rather appropriate.
I used thin plastic folders and stipled like if you were stenciling on a wall. There is a little smudging, but that is where I thought I was done and removed the stencil... then decided I wanted it darker and didn't match it back up just right. Okay for this shirt... goes with the faded feel.
V3 will look like the angel he is!

I still plan to use freezer paper to stencil, but this little guy beckoned to me and demanded to be put on a shirt! and this version is washable and reusable!

Our Mother's Day adventure....

For our exciting Mother's Day adventure.... we went to

THE PARK!
(Please act excited.... my kids still think it's cool!)

V1 gave me a great pose on the track...

V2 cheesed in the trees...

... And V3 thought we were all a bunch of goofs!

We tuckered them all out, and not one big boy ended up in our room last night! Hooray for exhausting the children!

Of course, this little guy still visited with me in the night. So sweet...

Mother's Day at the V house

I had a terrific Mother's day! A nice relaxing day at the V home.
V1 and V2 made a fun Citrus Sugar Hand Scrub (modified from this recipe) for Mother's Day gifts for the grandmothers and one for V2's teacher for preschool graduation! Yes, I am late on Mother's Day gifts... it is no surprise to them, I'm sure.... just par for the course.

V2 helped me take care of the veggie plants....

by almost crushing them with his monster truck... but I appreciate all the help I can get!

Speaking of veggies, remember those sad specimens from a couple of weeks ago?
Well, this is no fairy tale... they are dead, finit, caput... the peppers are still alive (in their walmart pots... transplantation was supposed to happen today... we'll see...

Amazingly enough... these squash and zucchinni plants are still alive! Of course, there is still time to correct that... they do live in the V household.

And... drum roll please.... my birthday lemon tree has a itty bitty start of a lemon...
SEE???....

V took care of V3 while we were doing all this fun stuff...

It was a great day....

Yes, I know Mother's Day is Sunday....

These little crochet flowers are going to be a gift for my mother in-law... Thank goodness Miss Nan (and everyone else in the world) doesn't read my little blog... yet... I am really slow and they are far from perfect, but I am excited about how this little project is turning out!

Don't worry... the "it takes forever" blanket is only temporarily on hold. I have to finish this "bloom scarf" (from a free Lion Brand pattern) and get it mailed so that it arrives sometime close to Mother's Day!

Anyone who knows me knows expects me to be late with gifts and cards, so she won't be shocked and hopefully not too disappointed when she sees my hard work on this clumsily crafted scarf!

Just a couple more flowers and joining to go...

...and in case anyone is wondering... the announcements about our newest bundle of joy, who is already 2 months old, will be out in the next couple of weeks... I am late getting them done. I know. You're shocked...

Get all your trucks in a row...

They are so cute... When they're sleeping

What is it about a sleeping child that makes me run for my camera?
Maybe because its the only time they are still (and quiet!) and maybe just because there isn't much that's cuter than a snoozing child...

V1 loves layers of blankets... 3 in this pic!

For some odd reason, V2 prefers to sleep across the foot of his bed... Okay, as long as he goes to sleep.

V3 wants to bury his head somewhere... And of course prefers to sleep on someone most of the time!

Crochet... a lesson in patience

I have realized lately that I like instant gratification.

Sewing is great... I can usually finish a project in one or two sittings...

Whoala! Instant gratification!

And then there is crochet... the pic is a project in the works. It will be a small blanket, not even a full baby-sized one... and what you see represents about 4 nights of work (1-2 hrs a night). Granted, I'm slow with a hook, but geez! No instant gratification there. Maybe God is trying to teach me patience through crochet.

(At this rate, 4 nights down... about 20 to go)

V is for Veggies...

Someone, please, HELP, save the veggies! Anyone...? Hello...(Hello... Hello...)

Truly, this is the problem with an audience of one (um, that would be me). There is no one here to help.

I took these unsuspecting little plants from their nice home at the big store- the one that starts with a W. They were happy and thriving on the shelf among their buddies.

One day at home with me, and they start to die!

Leaves are browning, they refuse to act alive... what do I do???

Off to google to try to save the veggies! Oh, and nice Wal-mart register person, next time you see me coming with poor helpless plants, do the humane thing and refuse to let me buy them.

(The two on the far left seem to be okay- still in their Walmart pots... wonder if they can just stay there...?)

All the V's

Here we are....

V (the big 'un), V1 (the oldest), V2 (the middle), and V3 (V Baby)...

And of course, me, V Mom. What you can't see in the photo is the "mom grip" holding V1 and V2 in place... hence, the pained grins. Oh, the things we do for a family pic...

the first....

So, what exactly does a girl write in her first blog post?

Since I am my own audience of one, I suppose I just have to entertain me...
geez, I hope I don't bore myself.

Okey dokey, Mom V, let's see where this leads.
